Only solid and mink-colored Bassets are acceptable. The solid-colored Basset may have shades of color on the body, mostly dark, on the lower back and on the ears.

Shadow changes must be consistent with the body coat color, including Hairy dark hair.

The following colors are disqualified: albino variants; non-solid colors such as tabby, variegated, spotted, and any combination of colors.
