First of all, we need to know what disease the eastern cottontail rabbits have, so that we can prescribe the right medicine, such as:

1. Mange: commonly known as scabies in rural areas, this disease spreads quickly and is not easy to control .

Treatment method: Cut off the scab together with the dirt, wash the affected area with 3% to 5% soapy water, and then rub the affected area with gauze dipped in waste

oil. Usually 2 to 3 times can be cured.

2、Rabbit mite disease: common in the feet, claws, nose and outer ears of eastern cottontail rabbits. The eastern cottontail rabbit will have severe itching, skin inflammation and even hair loss. Due to the unbearable itching, rubbing, scratching or biting everywhere, the eastern cottontail rabbit loses appetite and gradually loses weight.

Methods of treatment: Thoroughly clean the eastern cottontail rabbit enclosure and contaminated utensils, and then disinfect. Keep the barn ventilated, light and dry. Wash the affected part of the eastern cottontail rabbit with hot water and then apply sulfur ointment, once every 3 days, 2-3 times in a row to recover.
