Grey-tailed rabbits are plant-eating animals, feeding on young stems, shoots, flowers, fruits and tubers of crops, as well as various weeds in agricultural areas.

The gray-tailed rabbits are large, with a body length of 35~56 cm and a tail. 7 to 12 cm in length, with an adult weight of about 3 kg. The limbs are strong, the hair on the feet is profuse and fluffy, and the ears are folded forward and exceed the nose, about 115 mm, which is longer than the hind feet. The coat is long and soft, with a thick undercoat and a short tail.
