The maximum body length of the two-character hanging can grow to 31cm. The adult fish is uniformly milky yellow, without any lines on the side of the body, but has two lines directly behind the eyes. A black short horizontal band, the spot is shorter than the head length and narrower than the eye diameter.

SpannedThe dorsal fin is blue-white, with Pale blue margin, dorsal fin base with a gray to black streak. The anal fin is dark brown with a pale blue margin, and the base of the anal fin has a brown streak. The caudal fin is yellow-green with several dark lines, and the fin margin has a broad pink-blue band. The anterior half of the pelvic fin is the same color as the body, and the posterior half is dark brown with a blue edge. Pectoral fins dark brown and transparent. The caudal spine is pink-blue and the tail spine is dark brown.
