Serrata tortoises are raised in shallow water. Serrata tortoises often live in rivers, lakes or ponds. Eat worms, snails, shrimp and small fish and other animals, but also eat plant stems and leaves and grain. Mating begins in late April and takes place in the evening; the spawning period is from May to August, and spawning is completed in three or four times a year, with 5 to 7 eggs laid in one hole each time.
