Grass snakes are listed on the 2009 IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Grass snakes are fast-moving and cautious. Since its body temperature depends on external supply, it will go to a warm place to bask in the sun immediately after waking up in the morning to achieve enough body temperature to move or digest food normally. In winter, the temperature is cold, and swimming snakes cannot move.

Grass

Grass Snakes will seek out places where frost will not accumulate, such as rock piles or deeper layers of leaf litter, to hibernate. The hibernation period is from October to March or April of the following year.
