The spotted mud turtle hibernates. Wild spotted mud turtles generally begin to experience decreased appetite and activity during winter when temperatures naturally drop. However, not all spotted mud turtles hibernate in the winter. If the growth environment of wild spotted mud turtles is still relatively high in winter, then they have no way to hibernate.

Furthermore, it is a cultivated species. Striped mud turtles, like wild species, can hibernate or not. Whether they hibernate depends on whether the water temperature conditions around them are suitable. If the water temperature is still relatively high, they will not hibernate; if the water temperature drops to a certain range, the spotted mud turtle will hibernate. Therefore, in winter, the temperature of the water can be adjusted at any time, and the breeding can be kept warm to prevent them from entering a state of hibernation.
