Watermelon turtles are raised in shallow water.
Young turtles can be raised in plastic pots, glass tanks and other containers, and the water depth can be slightly higher than the turtle's back. Large-scale rearing can build pools, both indoor and outdoor.

Fed with small fish and shrimp, snail meat, earthworms, Animal viscera and other animal feeds are mainly used, both raw and cooked, with a small amount of grains, fruits and other plant feeds, adding a variety of vitamins and trace elements. According to the size of the turtle, it is appropriate to wash and chop it into small pieces that can be swallowed.
The watermelon turtle enters hibernation below 15°C, and the general water temperature is not lower than 4°C, which can safely overwinter. The water depth can be maintained at 15-20 cm. Put a cover on it to keep warm, but pay attention to ventilation. Generally, it is advisable to keep the water surface free from freezing.
