Ear mites, also known as ear mites, are external auditory canal parasites that can be seen moving oval-shaped worms under a microscope. The eggs, larvae, nymphs, and adults of ear mites are all completed in the dog's external auditory canal. It can be said that the dog's ear canal is their home for life. The worms rely on the mouthparts to destroy the skin to suck lymph fluid and the scales on the outer ear canal. This constant stimulation will make the dog feel itchy and unbearable, and the outer ear canal of dogs with ear mites will accumulate thick black-brown mud debris. What are the symptoms and prevention measures of ear mites in dogs?
Peking dog
The male body length of pruritus canis is 0.35-0.38mm, and the third pair of feet There are two slender hairs at the end; the female body length is 0.46-0.53mm, the 4th pair of feet is underdeveloped, cannot extend beyond the body edge, and is 3 times shorter than the 3rd pair of feet; the 3rd and 4th pairs of feet have no suckers . Parasitic in the external auditory canal of dogs, it survives by puncturing the skin to suck lymph and exudate, resulting in irritation, inflammation and crust formation. Sometimes due to secondary bacterial infection, the lesions can penetrate deep into the middle ear, inner ear and meninges.
The sick dog shakes, scratches, or rubs the affected ear. There is a dark brown waxy and exudate in the ear canal, sometimes with a phosphorus-like crust. Examination of the ear canal with an otoscope reveals tiny white or flesh-colored itch mites moving on a dark brown exudate, which can be shown to be canine itch mites when examined with a magnifying glass or under a low-power microscope. If the meninges are violated, the sick dog will show symptoms of mania.
Dissolve less irritating oils such as mineral oil or earwax dissolving agents (oleic acid triethyl p-phenylenyl phenol polypeptide condensate 10%, chlorohydrin 0.5%, Propylene Glycol 89.5%, mix well) into the ear canal, followed by a gentle massage to help clean and kill many mites. Use a metal ring to remove large amounts of exudate clinging to the eardrum during cleaning. Acaricide applied after cleaning: Connex (7.5% chloroform, 0.12% fish tenenone, 0.38% other ether extracts of the genus Chrysanthemum, 92% ineffective ingredients, mix well) 1 mixed with 3 parts of mineral oil, dripped into the ear as drops or applied with a cotton swab, once every 3 days; dimethyl phthalate (24% dimethyl phthalate, 76% cottonseed oil) 1 ~ 2m1 , injected into the ear canal and rubbed lightly, or applied to the ear shell and feet, once every 3 to 4 days, until recovery; protective oil base solution (resorcinol 5%, zinc oxide 4%, calamine) 2%, juniper oil 1%, pure wood acetic acid 0.4%, zinc hydroxide 8%) into the ear canal, once a day.
In severe cases, the dog's body should be treated daily with a parasiticidal powder or bath to kill mites that are not in the external auditory canal. If there are inflammatory lesions, hydrocortisone neomycin ointment should be applied to the inflammatory site or an antiseptic solution (containing thiabendazole 40mg, neomycin sulfate 3.2mg, and dexamethasone 1mg per ml) should be instilled 5--15 times into the ear canal until the inflammation subsides.
